Daoming Bamboo Weaving

   The bamboo weaving of Daoming Town in northwestern Chongzhou City of Chengdu has already had a history of over 2000 years, and its influence has spread to nearby towns including Jixie, Dongguan, Baitou and Gongyi. The handicraftsman first cuts down the bamboos, and then skins, slices and basks them. Afterwards, he weaves the bamboo slices into exquisite and sophisticated artifacts and daily articles with the weaving, knotting, locking and other skills.
    Daoming Bamboo Weaving has a rich countryside flavor and carries the cultural style of the western Sichuan region, and is the only relatively intact basketry style in this region.
